This original composition by Jeffrey Bonilla & David Lockwood is inspired by the homily preached by Fr. Dave Ayotte on Oct. 31, 2021 at St. Monica. Experience that homily here: https://livestream.com/stmonica90403/sunday530/videos/227161734
Most singers find that they identify with the style of one of the three choirs, but anyone is encouraged to sing with any of the three whenever and however it suits you. Some volunteers will alternate which choirs they sing with week to week to accommodate shifting schedules. We're very flexible; come when you can, when you feel like it!
I can add you to the email list if you like. We generally send out audio references and sheet music between Wednesday-Friday, and we provide sheet music for you on Sundays. Each choir meets approximately an hour before each mass to rehearse (specific times are listed in the weekly emails). You're welcome to shadow a rehearsal any Sunday, or just jump right in if you're ready!
The Generations Choir sings mainly on Sundays at 9:30am masses. Their focus is on the "Catholic classics" and songs that appeal to all ages. The choir ranges from teens to seniors, occasionally joined by the Children's Choir, and so the 9:30am mass is often called the Family Mass.
The Heritage Choir is on Sundays at 11:30am. Theirs is the most choral repertoire, leaning more traditional in song selections.
The Elevations Choir on Sundays at 5:30pm is mostly made up of adults in their 20-30s, as the evening liturgy is dubbed the Young Adult Mass. Their repertoire is mostly contemporary: praise and worship songs, or Catholic standards with a modern twist.
